Fr. Agnel Minor Seminary, Pilar, staged a powerful Biblical Musical Drama “Nabotacho Mollo” (Naboth’s Vineyard), with a compelling message of environmental and social justice during its annual day celebrations held recently. It portrayed the gripping struggle of a humble farmer defending his ancestral land from the clutches of greed and corruption.
The play was conceptualized and scripted by Rev. Fr. Diogo Roger D’Souza SFX (Director, Fr. Agnel Minor seminary) transported the biblical story of Naboth into the heart of a Goan village. The play was directed by Mr. Agnel De Borim and the dances were choreographed by Mr. Joe Dias.
The drama featured a collection of original songs written by Fr. Diogo D’Souza SFX—Utsovachem Voros, Nabotachem Eksurponn, Tanchem Kotta!, Nixed! The event was honoured by Rt. Rev. Simiao Purificacao Fernandes, Auxiliary Bishop of the Archdiocese of Goa and Daman as the Chief Guest and Mr. Rajendra Kerkar, renowned environmentalist, author, and researcher as the Guest of honour.
A talented ensemble of musicians including Pratamesh Chari on drums, Fevan Cruz on bass, and Jeolinton Costa on keys. The instrumental depth was further enriched by Manuel Caiado on saxophone, Pranoy and Alloy De Souza on trumpet, and a string section featuring Claster Cardozo, Serilda Carvalho, Nikhil Rodrigues, Adriano Braganca, and Vailanni Fernandes on violins. The vocal performances were delivered by singers Russel D’Souza and seminarians Ashwin Vaz, Emmanuel Fernandes, Rosario Mascarenhas, Fabian Colaco, Orban Fernandes, Francio Fernandes and Fegan Fernandes. It depicted silence as betrayal and courage as prophecy, reminding everyone that in defending the land, we safeguard the very soul of Goa.
